Radio unfinished

There are two types of radio , being commercial and public service. Commercial radio is funded by ads and an independent organisation where as public service such as the BBC is publicly funded and therefore has to provide certain services in order to keep with the set precedent.

BBC radio 1

BBC radio 1 is aimed predominantly at a  young early 20s audience as they usually play pop and occasional indie and hip hop. They do this by having a young host , Nick Grimshaw, who attracts the attention of a younger audience. They also have a live lounge where they play music from artists live on air. Usually this promotes the artist and appeals to their audience as they usually have new and upcoming artists there.
BBC 1 Xtra

BBC 1 Xtra is aimed at young audience mainly under 25 and is trying to attract an urban audience. It mainly plays grime and hip hop but also does some talking sections on grime and advice. These are usually comedic and appeal to this younger audience.

BBC Radio 4

BBC radio 4 is a radio station that mainly targets
an older generation and focuses on news, journalism and sometimes humour. BBC radio 4 replaced the BBC home service in 1967.  It tries to attract this older audience by mainly focusing on news and politics.
